Desolation and Starting Over

In Jeremiah we see a picture that looks like the beginning of creation as set out in the book of Genesis.  I think this portion of scripture is describing the end.  In other parts of the Bible it talks about the heavens passing away, the stars falling from heaven, the heavens being rolled away like a scroll the lights of the heavens going dark. God says, “heaven and earth will pass away, but my word will not pass away.”  The Bible talks about God making a new heaven and new earth.

Men plot and plan their evil deeds thinking that they have become wise.  They deceive and feign friendship with a companion while planning an ambush in their heart.  They call evil good and good evil.  They reward those who behave badly insisting that others do what they themselves are doing.  They love unjust reward and robbery. They oppress and enslave the weak and powerless.  They have no compassion for the widow or the orphan.

Jeremiah chapter 4:23-26

“I looked on the earth, and behold, it was without form and void; and to the heavens, and  they had no light. I looked on the mountains, and behold, they were quaking, and all the hills moved to and fro.  I looked, and behold, there was no man, and all the birds of the air had fled. I looked, and behold, the fruitful land was a desert, and all its cities were laid in ruins before the LORD, before his fierce anger.

I have been a Christian for about thirty-five years. Since 2000 I am generally dissatisfied with church as we know it in North America. Today many people seem to be wanting more evidence in their lives when relating to God and his Word.
